Adaptive cycling is a popular fair activity!

The Department of Conservation and Recreation's Universal Access Program (UAP) offers outdoor recreation opportunities in Massachusetts State Parks for visitors of all abilities. In the summer, this means adaptive kayaking, canoeing, hiking, cycling, rowing, sailing, and golfing programs across the state. To kick off our summer adaptive fun, the UAP is hosting an Accessible Recreation Fair near Artesani Playground in Herter Park in Brighton on Saturday, June 10th. This fun and rewarding event is a unique way for folks with disabilities and their families and friends to learn about accessible recreation opportunities in the parks and with oher organizations across the state. The fair runs from 10:00am to 3:00pm, with volunteer orientation starting at 9:00am.

We're looking for people to help out with the many activities at the fair including face painting, adaptive hiking and letterboxing, adaptive cycling, and kite decorating. We could also use help with passing out refreshments, and with set up and take down. Whatever your role, you’ll be helping folks have fun and try adaptive activities!

If you would like to have some fun while doing some good, please let us know which area(s) of the fair you are interested in helping with.

The meeting location will be outside at Artesani Playground/Herter Park, 1255 Soldiers Field Road in Brighton, MA. Parking is available near the public garden side of the parking lot, and the park is near the Everett St. Stop on the #86 bus line.

Thanks so much for your help and we look forward to seeing you in the parks!
