ORGANIZATION: Gender Freedom Society

Gender Freedom Society is seeking a highly motivated and dynamic individual to serve as the Director of Communications. This pivotal role will oversee all communication efforts, including graphic design, information technology (IT), podcasts, and social media management. The Director of Communications will lead the development and implementation of comprehensive communication strategies to effectively convey the organization's mission, vision, and initiatives to various stakeholders. Collaboration with internal teams is essential to ensure cohesive messaging and brand consistency across all communication channels. The Director will also directly manage the Podcast Manager, InfoTech Manager, and Social Media Manager.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Develop and execute comprehensive communication strategies to promote Gender Freedom Society's mission, programs, and initiatives.
  2. Oversee the design and production of visual assets, including graphics, illustrations, and multimedia content, to support communication efforts.
  3. Oversight on the development and production of podcasts, including content creation, editing, and distribution.
  4. Oversight on all social media channels, including content creation, scheduling, and engagement, to enhance brand visibility and engagement.
  5. Collaborate with internal teams to develop and maintain a cohesive brand identity and messaging across all communication channels.
  6. Monitor and analyze communication metrics and trends to evaluate the effectiveness of strategies and make recommendations for improvement.
  7. Stay informed about emerging trends and best practices in communication, graphic design, IT, podcasts, and social media to enhance communication efforts.
  8. Supervise and provide guidance to the Podcast Manager, InfoTech Manager, and Social Media Manager, ensuring effective team performance and professional development.
  9. Ability to interview and onboard positions within the Communications Department

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, Graphic Design, Information Technology, or related field. Master's degree preferred but not required.
  • Proven experience in communications, graphic design, IT, podcasts, and social media management, preferably in a nonprofit or similar setting.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a diverse team of professionals.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey complex ideas clearly and concisely.
  • Proficiency in graphic design software, IT systems and platforms, podcast production tools, and social media management tools.
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Creative thinking and problem-solving skills, with a passion for innovation and continuous improvement.
  • Commitment to the Gender Freedom Society's mission and values, with a desire to make a positive impact in the community.

As a community, GFS provides a safe-space for members to meet other like-minded folks from around the world, engage in peer-to-peer counseling, and be seen and heard for who they truly are. GFS is a resource of information for the Trans/GNC community, to include providing educational resources, local gender-affirming services locations, and local trans-friendly businesses. GFS participates in national and local social activism, and provides space for members to actively plan for activism in their communities.
