Position: Advocacy and Special Events - * As Needed

Department: Advocacy and Systems Change

Supervisor: Community Relations Coordinator

Location: On and Off-Site at various community events

Position Hours: Varies according to events and may include evenings and weekends. Volunteers will receive a 2+ week lead time for event needs.

Mission Statement: Eliminate racism, empower women, and promote peace, justice, freedom and dignity for all.

Primary Function: Share your passion to make a difference. Join us by supporting YWCA staff at various events in our community. Assist with set-up/take-down and much more. There will be at least a 2+ week lead of an event need.

Qualifications:

You must have the desire to learn in order to educate

  1. Comfortable in public event settings
  2. Passionate about YWCA Mission
  3. Weekend and evening availability
  4. Demonstrated good communication skills

The following statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed. They are not intended to be construed as an exhaustive list of all responsibilities, duties and skills required.

Responsibilities:

  1. Open to an "As Needed" position
  2. Attend special events and assist staff as needed
  3. Assist Mission Impact staff at community tabling events
  4. Event set up and clean up
  5. Support YWCA staff as needed during event activities
  6. Safeguard confidential information gained by volunteer position

Training Requirements: YWCA staff will provide necessary training to volunteer and intern

  1. Complete understanding of YWCA Mission
  2. General understanding of issues related to racial and gender issues and injustice, equality, equity, Women’s Rights

Today we combine programming and advocacy in order to generate institutional change in three key areas: racial justice, civil rights, empowerment and economic advancement of women and girls, and health and safety of women and girls
