A talented and creative musician with a deep sense of humor is needed to support our fledgling drumline. For more information on our organization, please visit our website at www.soulphamm.org.
The 2023-2024 drumline is expected to serve musicians between the ages of 12 and 19 and will be a mix of beginners and intermediate musicians.
The season will run until June 2024 with practice running on Saturdays from 1pm to 4pm at the Newark YMCA starting in April. The group will also be working with a virtual coach on Mondays at 7pm (via Zoom). While attendance at the virtual practice is not required, it would be helpful to attend occasionally to get a sense of what the team has been working on.
While coaching experience is not required, experience as a drumline/marching band participant is critical. You must be able to teach a student who is a beginner - as well as someone who might have musical experience. We will serve as the professional reference for the Coach and will verify community service hours if needed.

Our vision is to promote virtue, equity, unity, justice, faith, charity and a sense of common purpose and brotherhood among all people with an emphasis on the development and advancement of young people through education, athletics, service and the arts.
SoulPhamm was incorporated as a nonprofit organization in the state of New Jersey on June 25, 2021 and is the "birth-child" of Coach Luis ("Lou") and Dr. Leisa Herrera ("Mz. Doc"). The organization exists to provide training to young people in a variety of sports and performing arts and unique opportunities to display those talents through competition and performance. By integrating mentoring, life skills, opportunities for community service and academic enrichment to the athletic/artistic program, we help make our scholar-athletes as well-rounded as possible, capable of meeting and overcoming any challenges they are faced with. Although Coach Lou passed away suddenly in January 2021, the official launch of SoulPhamm was held on June 26, 2021, which coincided with his birthday weekend. SoulPhamm will recognize its own founding, as well as the achievements of our young people every year on the fourth Saturday of June, as a tribute to the life and legacy of Coach Lou.
