A talented and creative musician is needed to support our fledgling drumline. To learn more about our organization, please visit our website at www.soulphamm.org.
We currently have four players (all in high school) who are each paired with a talented coach/instructor and together, they play as a small, but mighty machine of six musicians. We are getting more interest from young people and would like to add another instructor/coach to the family. We anticipate that this new coach will work with the newer students coming in, but all coaches assist each other with coverage should a coach need to be out.
The drumline rehearses primarily on Zoom on Saturdays from 2pm and 3pm. As the group is preparing for their first high-visibility exhibition on April 1st, we are adding one "in-person" practice per month on Saturday from 1pm to 4pm. Coaches can elect to bring their particular student(s) in for more Saturdays if they choose.
While coaching experience is not required, experience as a drumline/marching band participant is critical. You must be able to teach a student who is a beginner - as well as someone who might have musical experience.

Our vision is to promote virtue, equity, unity, justice, faith, charity and a sense of common purpose and brotherhood among all people with an emphasis on the development and advancement of young people through education, athletics, service and the arts.
SoulPhamm was incorporated as a nonprofit organization in the state of New Jersey on June 25, 2021 and is the "birth-child" of Coach Luis ("Lou") and Dr. Leisa Herrera ("Mz. Doc"). The organization exists to provide training to young people in a variety of sports and performing arts and unique opportunities to display those talents through competition and performance. By integrating mentoring, life skills, opportunities for community service and academic enrichment to the athletic/artistic program, we help make our scholar-athletes as well-rounded as possible, capable of meeting and overcoming any challenges they are faced with. Although Coach Lou passed away suddenly in January 2021, the official launch of SoulPhamm was held on June 26, 2021, which coincided with his birthday weekend. SoulPhamm will recognize its own founding, as well as the achievements of our young people every year on the fourth Saturday of June, as a tribute to the life and legacy of Coach Lou.
