The Downriver Council for the Arts (DCA) is seeking enthusiastic and creative instructors for our summer art camp program. We present a well-rounded artistic experience that encompasses many different fine art forms - visual, performance and music based. Camp instructors can bring their own ideas of a camp, or we can work with you to develop a successful camp. We are open to your vision! You will be expected to design your own lessons and projects. We provide all materials or will reimburse you for material costs if you need specialty items. Assistants will be provided when camps reach an enrollment capacity. You will be expected to pass a mandatory ICHAT background check.
In 2023, the DCA will offer 6 weeks of Summer Art Camps during the time period of June 26-August 18. Each camp runs for 5 days, Monday-Friday. We offer two times, from 9:30am-12:30pm and 1:00pm-4:00pm each day. You must be available to teach for the entire camp week of your camp session. We offer two age groups 6-10 and 11-15. You can teach multiple camps during the season.
This is a paid position, earning $250.00 per each week-long camp. It can also equate to an internship with exchanged hours worked for university credit. We would be happy to make arrangements to accommodate this. The dates listed are when the summer camps are in session, but if an internship requires more time, we can add additional time in the form of non-profit preparation for camps (inventory, supplies, organization, sponsorships, reporting, etc.) This position or internship is focused on providing real-world training and an out-of-classroom educational experience to those interested in pursuing a career in education, childhood development, arts administration or any creative field.
If you are interested in applying, please send an email cover letter with resume attached to dc4arts@downriverarts.org stating your interest and any specific fields you’d be interested in instructing. Please call 734-720-0671 if you have any questions.
Deadline to apply: February 6, 2023
