The Hartford Hospital Food 4 Health program is a proactive approach to our mission of improving the health and healing of the people and communities we serve. This program provides patients with access to specific healthy food items, free of charge, prescribed by their Hartford Hospital doctors. We are looking for volunteers to assist in supporting this very important new program.(Bilingual English/Spanish preferred but not required.) Volunteers assist with patient registration, maintaining adequate food supply in shelves and refrigerators, maintaining food signage, maintaining a clean environment, maintaining handouts, assisting patients to car/taxi with bags using a cart. Future duties may include recipe research, kitchen demonstration, nutrition education. We hope that our volunteers will assist in generating ideas to create an increasingly worthwhile program.
Volunteers are requested to volunteer a minimum of one shift per week (minimum of 3 hours), the same day/time each week. Shifts available: Monday 9am-3pm, Tuesday 2:00-7:00 p.m., or Thursday 7:30 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.
