Community Health Volunteer: Empower Older Adults Through PEARLS Program"

Save to Favorites

ORGANIZATION: Circle of Care, St. Louis

If you're passionate about community health and aging, and wish to make a significant impact, we invite you to volunteer for an evidence-based program like PEARLS (Program to Encourage Active, Rewarding Lives).

PEARLS collaborates with diverse stakeholders, from individuals to funders, businesses, and nonprofits, all of whom share our core values. Our combined efforts make it possible to offer older adults the critical depression and anxiety care they so deserve.

Our volunteer process is stringent yet rewarding. It begins with a background check and comprehensive PEARLS training. As a volunteer, you'll work with a client from the community area of your preference, close to your home or workplace.

We request your commitment for six to eight personal sessions, each lasting one to two hours, over four to five months. The frequency of visits starts from weekly and gradually shifts to monthly as the client progresses, a skill-building technique that assists individuals in learning problem-solving independently.

Moreover, you'll be asked to join structured group supervision monthly, enabling you to share and learn from the experiences of other direct care staff and volunteers.

PEARLS champions partnerships with various community-based organizations, enhancing community health and well-being.

Some of the programs we collaborate with include:

  • Family and Friends,
  • Area Agency on Aging,
  • Adult Protective Service,
  • Churches,
  • Sheriffs Office,
  • Individual Participants.

Together, we can create an inclusive community that acknowledges and addresses the emotional health needs of our older adults. Join us in making a difference!
