ORGANIZATION: Tri-County Office on Aging

  • 17 people are interested

Are you interested in supporting older adults, working in a community setting, or interacting with the public? Individuals can help out at one of the Tri-County Office on Aging's senior dining sites, which are located throughout Clinton, Eaton, and Ingham counties.

Dining site volunteers can help in a variety of ways, from helping to dish up and serve food to greeting or assisting with paperwork at dining sites across the tri-county area. Many of our dining sites are (essentially) entirely operated by volunteers, so any assistance is truly appreciated! Sometimes just talking to people can make a huge difference in their dining experience. When needed, we also love to have volunteers at dining sites that can help with educational and entertainment programs for the sites. If you have a special talent to share, such as playing music, please reach out!

Mission Statement

Our mission is to promote and preserve the independence and dignity of the aging population.

Description

The Tri-County Office on Aging (TCOA) was founded as the Area Agency on Aging in 1974 by Clinton, Eaton, and Ingham counties and the cities of Lansing and East Lansing. TCOA's mission is to promote and preserve the independence and dignity of the aging population.

As as not-for-profit organization, TCOA helps older adults access programs and benefits, improve their health, and remain active in their communities. Working in partnership with agencies and service providers across the area, TCOA embraces a person-centered philosopy that focuses on how a person wants to live their life while honoring their preferences.

Programs such as Meals on Wheels, health and wellness classes, caregiver supports, and general information and assistance make a significant, positive difference in the lives of local seniors.
