Thank you for understanding! DO YOU WANT TO HELP OTHER MANAGE THEIR CHRONIC PAIN? We are looking for enthusiastic people to lead the Chronic Pain PATH ( Personal Action Toward Health) workshop in Clinton, Eaton, and Ingham counties. Chronic Pain PATH is a 6-week workshop in which trained lay leaders (this is where you come in!) help people with chronic pain or caregivers of a person with chronic pain learn skills to manage their condition and improve their quality of life. Workshops meet for 2 1/2 hours once/week for 6 weeks. Total time commitment is 15 hours for each worskhop. QUALIFICATIONS Role model for healthy behaviors Possess good listening skills, non-judgmental, and dependable Life experience with chronic pain, is a caregiver to someone with chronic pain, or wants to help others with chronic pain Comfortable speaking in front of others and facilitating groups Can follow a scripted manual while connecting with participants No prior teaching experience or healthcare education is required TRAINING Trainings are 4 full days and you must attend each day to become a leader Next training dates are TBD. Thank you for understanding! DO YOU WANT TO HELP FAMILY CAREGIVERS TAKE BETTER CARE OF THEMSELVES? Become a Powerful Tools for Caregivers Leader!! We are looking for enthusiastic people to lead workshops in Ingham, Clinton, and Eaton County. Powerful Tools for Caregivers (PTC) is a 6-week workshop designed for caregivers to learn how to take better care of themselves while caring for someone else. Workshops are led by trained leaders and meets for 2 1/2 hours once/week for 6 weeks. Total commitment is 15 hours per workshop. As a PTC Class Leader, you will help caregivers : Reduce stress and balance their life Improve self-confidence and communication skills Make tough decisions and manage difficult emotions Locate local resources and more! What does the training program include? Scripted curriculum A copy of The Caregiver Helpbook, companion book to the class Interactive training provided by a team of certified Master Trainers Things to know: Training consists of 2 full days (16 hours). You must attend both days of the training to be a leader. After training you must facilitate one workshop in the next 6 months and one workshop each year thereafter to remain active. Once trained, you will work with the program manager to schedule a workshop around your availability and desired location. LEADER TRAINING DATES: Next training date is TBD. Thank you for understanding! DO YOU WANT TO HELP OLDER ADULDS PREVENT FALLS AND STAY INDEPENDENT? Become a volunteer coach for the program A Matter of Balance: Managing Concerns about Falls. This award winning program is designed to reduce the fear of falling and increase activity levels of older adults who have concerns about falls. Trained volunteer coaches can facilitate the workshop in Clinton, Eaton, and/or Ingham Counties. The workshops are held in community locations and last 2 hours per session for 8 sessions (16 hour commitment to facilitate one workshop). The training to become a coach is one day (8 hours). Once trained, the program manager works with you to schedule a workshop around your availability and desired location. We are looking for people who have: Good communication Enthusiasm Dependability Willingness to lead a small group Interest in working with older adults Life experiences valued- with education or health experience a plus Your Role as a COACH would be to: Teach the materials and engage others in group conversation Lead the exercises Connect with each participant Have fun!
