We have volunteer opportunities all across the state of North Carolina. Be an essential part of the interdisciplinary team that offers comfort care to our hospice patients. We offer in person and "virtual volunteers" opportunities to all applicants 16 years and older.

"Virtual volunteers" have the opportunities to send cards from home, becoming a pen pal, plan events/activities and have some administrative work. In person volunteers make face to face visits with our patients. They spend time with them, listen to their life stories, share interests, read to them, or be a silent presence in the room.

Take as little as a few minutes of your day to write a card or spend as long as you want visiting patients. All volunteers must pass a NC background check.

REQUIREMENTS VARY DEPENDING ON WHAT TYPE OF VOLUNTEER WORK YOU WANT TO DO.
VIRTUAL VOLUNTEERS ARE ONLY REQURIED TO COMPLETE THE ONLINE TRAINING COURSE.
IN-PERSON VOLUNTEERS MUST COMPLETE ALL REQUIREMENTS

Mission Statement

Cardinal Hospice Care is committed to delivering a continuum of competent, dependable, compassionate, and valuable hospice services to eligible individuals in their home setting(private home or nursing facility).

Description

We are a provider of hospice services only. Our hospice program of care includes a Medical Director, Nurses, Home Health Aides, Medical Social Worker, Chaplains, Physical, Occupational, and Speech Therapies, and Volunteers. Facilities are once again letting volunteers enter to make visits. Volunteers can also visits patients who reside in private homes as requested. Some patients have elected to continue receiving cheerful cards/notes, but for those who desire visits, the amount of time for a visit is up to you. We would appreciate a minimum of one hour a week - more is even better as we are required to match 5% of staff hours, but if you can only give 30 minutes, then that will suffice.
