We have multiple locations to volunteer all across the state of North Carolina. Come and be an essential part of the interdisciplinary team that offers comfort care to our hospice patients. We have in person and "virtual" volunteer opportunities available for anyone 16 years or older. In Person volunteers have face to face companionships; you can talk, listen, read and play games with our patients. "Virtual" volunteers have the opportunity to volunteer from home and write cards or become a pen pal with patients all across the state. All volunteers have the opportunities to assist in planning events, activities and administrative work. Come and spend time with our patients and listen to their life stories, share interests, or just be a silent presence in the room. Volunteering for us can take up as little as few minutes of your day to write a card or spend a few hours visiting patients! PLEASE READ OUR REQUIREMENTS FOR VOLUNTEERING. A "VIRTUAL VOLUNTEER" HAS LESS REQUIREMENTS COMPARED TO AN IN-PERSON VOLUNTEER.

All underage volunteers require parental or Guardian consent/ supervision. Must be 16 years or older

Cardinal Hospice Care is now looking for volunteers who can help our bereavement coordinator with some tasks such as sending out mail, providing our bereaved families with scripted phone call to see how they are doing and assist with group events/planning. There are just a few of the many tasks that can be done as a bereavement volunteer. Primarily, our bereavement volunteers will be able to meet our bereavement coordinator at one of our office locations (Smithfield, Greensboro, Kinston, New Bern and Jacksonville) to complete these tasks. Depending on the tasks at hand and your volunteer experience, some tasks can be completed from your home. Our bereavement volunteers must complete the following requirements: 1. Complete our application in full 2. Pass an NC background check. For those who have not lived in the state for at least five consecutive years, you will be asked to have your fingerprints submitted for a federal background check. 3. Complete our volunteer training program. This program is 100% online and can be completed at your own pace. 4. Interview with our bereavement coordinator and volunteer coordinator to ensure compatibility. MUST BE 16 YEARS OR OLDER TOAPPLY. NC RESIDENTS ONLY

Hospice volunteers provide patient care and support services through companionship. These services include reading to the client, watching movies, talking, and whatever special talents you may bring! We love matching volunteers to clients with similar interest. Do you play an instrument, sing, knit, or etc? Why not share your talents with members in hospice care who would enjoy your company. This position does require some travel and is not available for volunteers under the age of 18 unless accompanied by an adult.
