Snyder Guard Station Host

ORGANIZATION: USDA Forest Service

Snyder Guard station is located 30 miles Northeast of Bonners Ferry, Idaho, on the banks of the Moyie River. The site was first used as a remote summer work station for Forest Service workers starting in the early 1900's. Most buildings have been restored and the site is now used as a recreation rental. Renters get access to the ranger house, cook house, two small log cabins, two horse corrals, the shower house, and a newer group shelter with a 6 site camping area. The host is provided with an 800 square foot one bedroom, one bath/laundry private house to live in during their stay. The house has a landline phone, there is no cell service in the area unless the host signs up for their own satellite based service. Endless recreational opportunities exist nearby including fishing, rafting, hiking, hunting, berry picking, sight seeing, etc.

Host duties include greeting renters, answering questions and explaining rules. Between renters, the host will clean the buildings and change out sheets. Hosts will also keep the lawns watered and mowed and keep the grounds looking great. A full list of duties is available on request.

This is a great opportunity for an individual or couple that likes to live in a quiet and remote setting, and likes meeting new people and maintaining a special place.
