THE ROLE OF A CAMP HOST:
Hosts provide services in partnership with staff by providing visitors with information, assistance, and services. This is accomplished by encouraging compliance with park rules and regulations, acting as a contact if emergencies occur when a ranger or site supervisor is off duty, and collecting fees when trained and authorized. General additional duties include maintaining facilities and/or landscaping, removing litter, making simple repairs, and performing light housekeeping and janitorial duties or other work as assigned to support park operations.

Hosts provide a minimum of 20 hours per week of scheduled duties in exchange for a site and hook-ups for a motor home or trailer. (Please note selected hosts need to have weekday, weekend, and holiday availability, and we are not able to accommodate all hours completed in two days) It is also a requirement that hosts live on-site, meaning they sleep in their motorhome or trailer to be the off-hours contact at the location should an emergency arise.

ABOUT THE PARK:
Potrero Regional Park, 45 miles east of San Diego, is a broad valley dotted by coastal live oaks. Its grassy meadow and rocky hillsides provide quiet solitude for hikers and campers year round. Picnickers also enjoy the shade of hundred-year old oak trees.

The Park offers two wilderness cabins, RV, tent, and group camping with 37 campsites available. Groups, including corporate campouts, can use developed and primitive sites, and are welcome to reserve a picnic area. Hot showers are available for campers staying in the cabins, at one of the RV sites, which have electrical hook-ups and water, or at one of the tent sites.

Visitors can enjoy the ball field, an enclosed pavilion, playgrounds, and fitness and hiking trails. The nearby town of Potrero offers a general store, cafe, post office, and library. The railroad museum and century-old historic stone store in Campo make for an interesting side trip, and the colorful Mexican community of Tecate is only minutes away.
