Mission Statement

To enhance the quality of life in San Diego by providing opportunities for high quality parks and recreation experiences and to preserve regionally significant natural and cultural resources.

Description

The County of San Diego Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR) enhances the quality of life for County residents and visitors of all ages. We promote health and wellness, safe communities, and civic pride through thousands of programs across San Diego, including festivals, hikes and rides, educational events and activities for youth, three strategically located recreation centers, and multiple state-of-the-art sports complexes. Daily programs enrich the lives of all patrons with a particular focus on families, seniors, people with disabilities, and at-risk youth.

Our award-winning park system features 157 facilities across more than 57,000 acres of land, including parks, camping parks, sports parks, community centers, open space preserves, and historic sites. Some 380 miles of trails take visitors through multiple climates and habitats - from the coast to the desert and the valleys to the mountains.

Parks and park facilities are open year-round (unless otherwise noted). We encourage you to experience the upside of outside along with us!

It was a great experience to be out there on a beautiful day with my girls they enjoyed the experience I enjoyed experience working as a team and giving back to the community. That whole week was wonderful especially after having a great Thanksgiving on Thursday and then being out at the park on Saturday it was just a great experience

It was great helping out in my own community. The park rangers and the community visiting were so appreciative of our help.

I work for the California Conservation Corps of San Diego, and my job requires 48 hours of volunteer time. I would like to volunteer for the Park and Recreation because my job deals a lot with the out doors, and i like working outside and helping to save the county of San Diego and the state of California.
