Help amplify the voices of African women entrepreneurs and showcase our impact through a compelling digital platform! Ripples in Africa is seeking a skilled Website Developer to create and maintain our blog website, sharing stories of transformation and sustainable development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Website Development:
- Design and develop a user-friendly, responsive blog website using modern web technologies.
- Implement a content management system (CMS) for easy updates by non-technical staff.
- Ensure the website is optimized for search engines (SEO) and fast loading times.
- Feature Implementation:
- Create interactive elements to showcase our impact on 17,200 women entrepreneurs and 45,000 children.
- Develop a donation portal integrated with secure payment gateways.
- Implement an email newsletter signup and management system.
- Integration:
- Connect the blog with our social media platforms for seamless content sharing.
- Integrate with our existing systems (e.g., CRM, analytics tools) as needed.
- Maintenance and Support:
- Provide ongoing technical support and troubleshooting.
- Implement regular updates and security patches.
- Train staff on basic website management and content uploading.
- Performance Optimization:
- Monitor website analytics and implement improvements based on user behavior.
- Ensure the website is accessible and performs well across various devices and browsers.
Required Skills:
- Proficiency in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and PHP (or similar server-side language).
- Experience with WordPress or similar CMS platforms.
- Understanding of responsive design principles and mobile-first development.
- Familiarity with SEO best practices and web accessibility standards.
- Basic understanding of UX/UI design principles.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience developing websites for nonprofits or social enterprises.
- Knowledge of e-commerce integration for our Yaji Spice products.
- Familiarity with data visualization tools to showcase impact metrics.
- Understanding of GDPR and data protection regulations.
Impact You'll Make:
- Create a digital hub that amplifies the stories of women entrepreneurs in West Africa.
- Increase visibility for our climate-resilient farming initiatives and ethical trade practices.
- Enhance donor engagement and potentially increase online donations.
- Provide a platform for educating a global audience about sustainable development in Africa.
Time Commitment: 15-20 hours/week initially, then 5-10 hours/week for maintenance (flexible)

Description
Ripples works in Ghana, Madagascar and Nigeria, and has worked funded and provided funding that has benefited over 6,000 since it's inception in the UK in 2005. We want to encourage American youth to develop international lenses and become immersed in a rich culture where they are part of the solution as well as create a hands on learning environment on creative ways to humanitarian efforts. We are in partnership with a several universities and successfully completed a trips with students from Europe and the United States. We want to raise funds and awareness for the program. We have several reports and videos from past students after their visits. We have several projects going on in Africa which served as an internship for the students.
