The Newsletter Volunteer Assistant will help to develop quarterly volunteer newsletters that seek to connect and inspire, by interviewing volunteers (and staff), capturing and drafting stories, and possibly taking pictures. Stories should represent the Agency’s diverse range of opportunities and volunteers and highlight the quality of the service experience and impact. This position can be performed virtually. Arrangements can be made for in-person access if needed. *Please note that this is an unpaid, volunteer opportunity.
Qualifications:
- Excellent communication skills
- Attend training/orientation
- Ability to creatively transform a volunteer’s experience into a compelling written piece that can be used for multiple purposes including recognition and recruitment
- Ability to engage in positive interactions with volunteers and staff
- Ability to conduct fact-finding interviews and identify compelling story components
- Strong writing and editorial skills
- Good eye for engaging visual imagery and photography

Senior Connections is dedicated to helping older persons maintain their quality of life and independence as they age. We serve all seniors and place special emphasis on helping the frail and disadvantaged elderly who may be socially isolated and physically or economically at risk.
Description
As an Area Agency on Aging, our goal is to serve as a primary resource in the community for seniors and caregivers who need assistance with planning for and making decisions later in life. Established in 1973, we are part of a nationwide network of Area Agencies on Aging that provide information, advocacy and direct services to seniors and their families.
