  1. Using the internet and other networking resources to find grants.
  2. Ensuring that EAPP’s organizational structure, mission, vision, and project goals meet grant criteria.
  3. Notifying the EAPP Board of Directors of potential grant opportunities.
  4. Working independently and/or with other volunteers or board members to complete and submit grants.
  5. Providing formal updates to the EAPP board of directors regarding the status of grant applications and ensuring deadlines for grant applications are appropriately met.
  6. Keeping professional records of grant applications and sharing those records with the EAPP Board of Directors or other volunteers upon request.
Our Current Projects:

We-Go Swing for Casa Agelica
Casa Angelica is an intermediate care facility in Albuqerque that provides therapy services, educational support, and social activities for children and young adults with developmental disabilities. One of EAPP’s upcoming projects is purchasing a We-Go-Swing for Casa Angelica’s residents. This swing is a specialized, adaptive swing, that allows individuals who need the full support of their wheelchair to swing along side their peers, and is a perfect example of the type of inclusive play EAPP hopes to be able to provide to all individuals impacted by disability.
Cost of the Project: $80,000

Accessible Playground for Colinas del Norte
Colinas del Norte is a public school in Rio Rancho that helps to serve some of New Mexico’s medically complex and medically fragile students, but does not currently have any adaptive playground equipment. We hope to be able to partner with Colinas del Norte to create a more inclusive playground so that all their students can enjoy recess and other outdoor activities at school.
Cost of the Project: $340,000

About Every Ability Plays Project

Location:

2105 Vista Oeste St NW, Suite E - 1236, Albuquerque, NM 87120, US

Mission Statement

At Every Ability Plays Project we believe every child deserves a playful life. We want children and young adults with mobility impairments, hearing and vision impairments, autism spectrum disorders, and all other disabilities to be given the opportunity to develop alongside their peers and experience all the joy and benefits of play. Every Ability Plays Project’s mission is to remove barriers and expand the world of play for children and young adults with disabilities by providing adaptive equipment which supports play in their neighborhood playgrounds and communities, as well as their own backyards. Our vision is to create an inclusive community that encourages socialization and play among children, adults, and families of all abilities.

Description

Founded in 2014, EAPP is a grassroots non-profit based in Albuquerque, New Mexico. We want children and young adults with mobility impairments, hearing and vision impairments, Autism Spectrum Disorders, and all other disabilities to be given the opportunity to develop alongside their peers and experience all the joy and benefits of play.

Physical activity, such as the physical movement that many children participate in during play, can have a significant impact on development, quality of life, and future health outcomes for children with disabilities. Despite these many benefits, most play environments in our neighborhoods and communities have only traditional play equipment that is not accessible to individuals with disabilities.

By integrating adaptive playground equipment with traditional playground equipment EAPP hopes to provide children of all abilities with the opportunity to participate in play alongside their peers; decreasing many of the negative stigmas associated with disability and positively impacting both physical and psychological health outcomes for years to come.
