Are you interested in helping others? Do you have great people skills? If so, please consider volunteering at HarmonyCares Hospice. Everyday is a blessing, and our volunteers help others who have a life limiting illness make every day special. You can make a difference in someone's life by providing companionship with a phone call, as well as being a supportive presence to a patient and family. Please consider volunteering at HarmonyCares Hospice!

We participate in a program called We Honor Veterans and celebrate each veteran we care for with a special ceremony to thank them for their service. We are always looking for volunteers who are veterans and would like to participate in these ceremonies as well as visit our veteran patients for companionship.

Our office is also seeking Administrative Volunteers to help with copying, filing, creating packets, sorting patient charts and working on special projects. If you are a team oriented person with enthusiasm who likes to feel a sense of accomplishment and help others in the process, please contact us today! You can make a difference in someone's life!

*All volunteers must be vaccinated for Covid-19, and will be required to have a physical, drug test, TB testing (Blood Test), and background check, all arranged and paid for by HarmonyCares Hospice. These are Illinois state requirements.

Mission Statement

For each employee to treat every patient as their own treasured loved one, providing care that affords a quality of life that outweighs quantity of day, and supports caregivers as their hearts find healing

Description

Hospice care is not just for the patient. It also provides emotional support for the entire family. Hospice is a philosophy of caring for patients whose medical conditions are not responding to treatment or for those patients who choose not to seek agressive medical care at the end stage of life. Our program is for patients who are considered terminal and are expected to live six months or less if the disease follows its natural course, although many patients outlive this time frame. Our philosophy focuses on comfort care not currative care. Our goal is for the patient to remain as comfortable and pain-free as possible in their own home or the home of a loved one through the end of life. We also serve patients who are living in long-term and assisted living facilities.
