In our makerspace high school students have an opportunity to explore their interests in technology and engineering. Our nonprofit offers high school students internships under our social enterprise to Go-To-Market with their product, service or event ideas. In our facility D38's Bearbotics FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) Team 4068 and FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC) teams (#s 19541, 19970 and 20771) hold their team meetings and build their competitive robots. We also offer Open Build times for high school students to come in to explore projects. Starting in 2022 we will begin offering Summer Camps to provide opportunities for younger students to be inspired to continue their interests in technology and engineering. Mentors are available to students with their projects and / or they can share projects that they are doing at work or as a hobby to encourage student interests in these fields.
In this volunteer opportunity as an Equipment Trainer / Technician you will be helping us keep equipment running, training students on equipment and monitoring equipment safety needs. If we have high school interns onboard for a semester, they will shadow you and help on tasks. Much of our maintenance and most used items in our space are 3D Printers and laptops, but we do have other equipment in the makerspace we would love your help with.
Times that we are open varies. In most cases students are in our space in the evening from 5:30-8:30pm. Our busiest time is during the FRC Build Season from January through mid-March.
Thank you for considering and we looking forward to joining our team!
