ORGANIZATION: High Tech Kids

FLL Referee
FLL Referee consults with a team

This fall, teams of Minnesota kids in grades 4 - 12 are preparing to compete in FIRST LEGO League Challenge and in FIRST Tech Challenge Robotics programs. We need enthusiastic referees to officiate Robotics competitions from November thru February. Come be inspired by teams of students in grades 4 - 12.
Referees officiate robot performance matches, tabulate scores, and encourage teams in a fun, energy charged environment. New referees will be paired with an experienced volunteer at their first event.

Referee training is in October either at our High Tech Kids office or via webinar, (see our website hightechkids.org/volunteer/training/ for more information and exact training schedule). Beyond October videos of live training sessions will be available.

Following volunteer training spend a full Saturday or Sunday of your choice in November through February refereeing robotics matches at a High Tech Kids Robotics Tournament. See shifts for dates and locations of tournaments

For the 2022 - 2023 season our events will be in person. High Tech Kids has yet to determine if face masks will be required at events during this season. We will inform volunteers in a timely manner if masks will be required..

Youth volunteers with experience in the FIRST programs are considered on a case by case basis.

Please see our website to learn more about these exciting programs and the referee volunteer role, then sign up via our Volunteer Sign up page. Contact Barb at barb@hightechkids.org or visit http://hightechkids.org/volunteer for more information.

About High Tech Kids

Location:

3370 Coachman Road, Suite D, Eagan, MN 55121, US

Mission Statement

High Tech Kids delivers fun, hands-on science, engineering and technology programs and events that inspire Minnesota kids in their formative years. We inspire kids to BUILD confidence, CREATE opportunities, and THRIVE in the 21st century.

Description

High Tech Kids is a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit that supports the Minnesota FIRST LEGO League Explore, FIRST LEGO League Challenge and Minnesota FIRST Tech Challenge each fall/winter. Through these programs we train, teach and empower student teams, coaches and volunteers.

With the help of more than 700 volunteers, we work hard to offer high energy, fun, team-based programs and competitions that celebrate science and technology. Kids learn how to work together, solve real-world problems and become leaders. To support High Tech Kids is to invest in our children, to share our passion, and to inspire these future innovators, leaders, collaborators, and problem solvers for the 21st century.

High Tech Kids now serves over 7,500 kids across Minnesota each year. Since our inception in 1999 we have helped over 67,000 students discover the fun in science and technology.

High Tech Kids’ programs, training, research workshops and competitions provide adult volunteers the opportunity to share their enthusiasm and expertise with young people in their community. These volunteers encourage kids to explore future STEM career possibilities.
