About ShelterTech

ShelterTech is a tech non-profit founded in 2017 that is focused on leveraging technology to help address homelessness and bridge the digital divide. Our all-volunteer team has built and launched SFServiceGuide, a powerful online directory platform built specifically for those experiencing homelessness. SFServiceGuide seeks to provide easy navigation and up-to-date information to over 360 resources delivering over 1,400 services in San Francisco.

ShelterTech believes that everyone has the right to connectivity. Consistent internet access is necessary to help individuals find housing, employment, or medical services, as well as to stay connected to family and friends. To help with this, ShelterTech also has its ShelterConnect program, where we have partnered with the city of San Francisco and corporate IT sponsors to provide installations of free WiFi in over 17 shelters serving over 1,000 residents every day, with installations in more shelters planned.

Position Description

ShelterTech's Data Angels Program is expanding and is seeking a volunteer consultant. Started in 2021, our vision is to shorten the time it takes for ShelterTech’s demographic to get the resources they need while building the ShelterTech Ecosystem to connect disparate partners with analytics and insights to help quantify and drive more impact.

This initiative grew out of an interest and need within the San Francisco nonprofit community to help define, measure, and drive impact across diverse organizations. We work with nonprofits across 1-3 months from ideation and scoping to implementation and launch.

Responsibilities

  • Work with nonprofit partners to understand their top goals and how they are currently measuring impact and tracking data
  • Propose solutions to help nonprofits achieve higher data accuracy with existing impact measures, and a scalable data intake process for new impact measures
  • Support the nonprofit partner with implementing proposed solutions

Qualifications

  • Based in the San Francisco Bay Area (given nonprofit scope and demographic)
  • Bachelor’s Degree in economics, social service, nonprofit management, public administration, public policy
  • 3+ years of experience in management consulting/business operations/data analysis or equivalent experience
  • Demonstrated experience in project management and tackling ambiguous problems and driving effective solutions
  • Intermediate experience and comfortability in Excel
  • Strong ability to distill large amounts of data into clear and actionable insights
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Demonstrated experience with problem solving and data analysis skills
  • Ability to work cross-functionally across multiple stakeholders
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills: able to stay on top of emails and meetings, assess the feasibility of meeting deadlines, and be reasonably responsive to external parties’ inquiries.
