National Public Lands Day (NPLD) is the nation's largest single-day volunteer event for public lands. Established in 1994 and held annually on the fourth Saturday in September, this celebration brings out thousands of volunteers to help restore and improve public lands around the country.
Come out to the Cherokee National Forest and help us improve our trails and recreation areas! We will meet at 9:30am at Mac Point Beach Recreation Area parking lot for a safety briefing and group photo. We will then assign everyone a task and go from there. Tasks may include trash pick-up, trail brushing and clearing, graffiti removal, overlook clean-up, etc. Volunteers are also required to sign a volunteer agreement to participate in the work day.
Please bring sturdy shoes, work gloves, water, snacks/lunch. Tools will be provided.
To register please apply to this event or contact our Volunteer Coordinator Kelsey Gentry by email: kelsey.gentry@usda.gov or by phone: 423-338-3300 ext 320.
