Job Title: County Ambassador

Supervisor: Program Specialist

Summary

County Ambassadors will serve as liaisons between the Share My Smile staff and foster/adoptive families in or near the county in which the ambassador serves.

Responsibilities/Duties

County Ambassadors will host two family strengthening events in their county per year (July 1-June 30th). Share My Smile will provide up to $250 per event. One summer outing will be held in Council Bluffs and the other event will be held outside of Council Bluffs. The Pottawattamie County Ambassador Volunteer will work in partnership with the Program Specialist in planning events.

County Ambassadors will maintain accurate budgets for each event held. CA's are responsible for submitting all receipts for reimbursement. Any purchase necessary that the CA is unable to make for reimbursement may be paid for by the supervisor with advance notice. CA's will be liaisons to local businesses to gain sponsors and donors for monetary and in-kind donations for County events.

County Ambassadors will be a resource and liaison between foster/adoptive families in the county they serve. They will do this by connecting and referring foster/adoptive families to the enrollment form and inviting all foster/adoptive families in their area to events and to participate in programs. CA's have creative autonomy with ways to connect and engage new families. They may do this at TIPSMAPP classes, foster parent training classes or by email introducing themselves. CA’s will also work in partnership with the Executive Director to increase Share My Smile brand awareness. They may wish to attend Chamber events, Non Profit Association of the Midlands (NAM) events, local support groups, churches, or other activities that allow the CA to meet and connect with potential sponsors and donors.

Evaluation/Training

Share My Smile will provide a working online folder with all resources available to County Ambassadors. SMS staff will provide training on processes and procedures for family events and soliciting in-kind donations for said events.

County Ambassadors will record time spent on SMS work, provide a monthly report of SMS related activities/efforts, and record any in-kind donations for events.

Benefits

The Pottawattamie County Ambassador will be paid a stipend amount of $200 a month, $2400 annually. This is separate from the $250 per event budget amount for event costs.

The time commitment is flexible and at the discretion of the County Ambassador. Intentions for use of time will be communicated to the supervisor. CA’S will be expected to spend from 5 - 15 hours a month supporting Share My Smile. CA’s will be expected to conduct at least 2 activities a quarter in support of Share My Smile. (Either for foster families or to increase brand awareness). The Pottawattamie County Ambassador Volunteer will work with the Program Specialist to support all major events as well as the Care For You Action CFYA in Pottawattamie County.

Events can be scheduled in accordance with the County Ambassadors schedule with Program Specialist final approval. Events should be scheduled outside of timeframes for major SMS events such as the annual spring & fall outings and the Holiday Dinner.

CA’s will be reimbursed for travel in accordance with the travel policy.
