Position Title: In person shelter liaison:

Position Description: Develop a relationship with an individual shelter and the rescue coordinator or rescue team at that shelter. Scan the shelter facebook page and the shelter website for good pulls as per criteria explained in training.. Make an app to see those dogs. Walk the shelter to see if any dogs are there that would be a good pull* Maintain contact with the shelter on a regular basis, whether it’s a weekly, bi monthly, or monthly walkthrough, reaching out through emails on a weekly or bi monthly basis, or being available for calls from the shelter on dogs needing placement.

Qualifications for Position: Availability and consistency is key. Develop a routine. Expectations will be a cooperative effort between the liaison and shelter team leads. Follow the process in place for sending dogs to the approvals team. Must be able to say no to shelters and walk away from dogs that don’t meet our approval requirements.Tell the shelters the decision of the approvals team and if approved place a hold on that dog. Understand sometimes the process is slow due to finding fosters or limited resources, or sometimes incredibly fast as to secure a highly sought after animal or to help an animal in distress or immediate risk of euthanasia. Must understand the financial responsibilities of certain dogs or the conditions that they may be in.Must be available to temp test potential dogs. Will have training. Must be able to record video and take photos on your phone and send them to the appropriate teams/people.Work with other team members to schedule visits, discuss animals to pull, and follow the decisions made by the approvals team. Training will be required.

Availability needed: .Time will vary depending on how often they need to visit shelters and how quickly turn around based on email. Since this is a new position, it will vary by volunteer and shelter.
