ORGANIZATION: Neighborhood Youth Association (NYA)

  • 1 person is interested

Neighborhood Youth Association is a nonprofit organization that provides academic tutoring, leadership development and life skills to low-income and at-risk youth. We are based in Venice, and serve students after school from south and west LA.

As part of our program, we offer tutoring in any academic subject that our students need. We are very volunteer driven. We are looking for tutors in Spanish/AP Spanish.

Tutors generally work with individual or small groups of students (1-5) and do homework help or assist them with learning concepts. The time commitment is one hour a week for the school year.

Our program runs in the evening after school (4-7 pm) and we can work with volunteers' schedules.

If you are bilingual in Spanish and English, enjoy reading and writing and want to help students improve at these skills, this could be the volunteer opportunity for you! We do not require prior tutoring experience, and will provide any materials. We are looking for people who are passionate about contributing to the community and social justice!
