America Needs You fights for economic mobility for ambitious, first-generation college students. We do this by providing transformative mentorship and intensive career development. We are looking for volunteers to join our California Associate Board.

America Needs You - Associate Board Roles and Responsibilities

The America Needs You (ANY) Associate Board (AB) is the local market's volunteer board aimed at recruiting Mentor Coaches/other volunteers and raising funds for ANY. As ambassadors for ANY, AB members enthusiastically support our mission and work. Nationally, ABs bring in over $250,000 annually to support ANY’s mission and recruit 500+ of Mentor Coaches to ensure a strong program. For those interested in future nonprofit board leadership, the AB is a great place to learn fundamental skills.

Requirements of Associate Board Members

Active members should:

• Commit to a minimum of one year of service. Members are reviewed annually with an option for a second, 1-year term based on performance. A mid-year review will also take place, and adjustments may be made at that time.
• Support ANY in achieving fundraising and recruitment goals as determined by their local site's Executive Director
• Give a personally meaningful gift and leverage your personal and professional network to raise key funds for ANY. We encourage AB members to set an ambitious and meaningful personal fundraising goal. While the minimum requirement is $1,000, many of our members far exceed this minimum
• Ensure strong attendance and success at the AB annual fundraiser by selling tickets, engaging sponsors, and soliciting silent auction items
• Bring 5+ guests to Single Day volunteer opportunities (workshops, mock interviews, etc.) to support ANY in building a pipeline of potential Mentor Coaches
• Attend at least 80% of monthly or bi-monthly AB meetings
• Attend at least 80% of weekly or bi-weekly committee meetings
• Assist with additional AB efforts, including contributing to the success of the engagement and partnership committees
