About Autistic Women’s Alliance

Autistic Women’s Alliance, an autistic led 501(c3) not for profit organization is looking for volunteers to help plan and manage events from start to finish for our members. Autistic Women's Alliance aids autistic individuals from all marginalized genders to thrive in current or new careers through different ways that include peer mentoring, education, and community outreach. Our members may or may not be employed full time, or formally diagnosed.

We host monthly events called Virtual Coffee Chats, that are information discussions around a specific topic(s). Usually, the first half of the virtual coffee chat, there’s a presentation that may include information about the topic(s) and the second half is an open discussion.

We are planning to host panels at least twice a year and do webinar series with subject matter experts in addition to our virtual coffee chats.

Job Summary

This is a part-time board level position that will work with the marketing director on event management strategy, policies, and procedures for Autistic Women’s Alliance. The Event Director is expected to work within organizational budgets, supervises and give direction to event manager and/or any volunteers working on events. We’re looking to launch our new website on the .org domain, and the Event Director should be able to give requirements to the web developer for any integration that’s integrated with any event management platform we use.

Reports To

Under the supervision of the Executive Director and/or CEO (Chief Executive Officer) of Autistic Women’s Alliance.

Responsibilities:

  • Monitors the progress of the planning, execution of each task that has to do with specific events.
  • Understands themes of events, and how it needs to be organized.
  • Manage consultants, vendors, and speakers prior and during events.
  • Negotiates with consultants, vendors, and speakers to secure rates that enhance budgets.
  • Provides recruitment, training, and coaching for the organizing committee for events.
  • Develop general event management policies and procedures.
  • Ensure that volunteers, staff, and board members adhere to management policies that are put into place.

Required Qualifications - at least 1 year or equivalent experience

  • Understanding of charitable giving legal guidelines for 501 (c3) non-profits, especially for fundraising events.
  • Flexibility to be available in the evening and occasional weekends.
  • Is comfortable with checking and responding to emails and can work within timelines.
  • Should be comfortable with doing both synchronous and asynchronous work and is comfortable with using collaboration tools such as MS Teams, and Office365 products.
  • Internet research and strong social media knowledge
  • MailChimp Campaigns, and Forms.

Preferred Qualifications - 6 months or equivalent experience

  • Knowledge of CRM (Customer Relationship Management) products such as Salesforce or equivalent product.
  • Some experience using event management platforms such as Eventbrite , or Modern Events Calendar
  • MailChimp Email campaigns , and using MailChimp forms

REQUIREMENTS

  • 10-20 hours per month, commitment is dependent on on size/scale of events being planned.
  • We're looking for a strategic thinker, ideally someone that's worked with nonprofits. Being familiar with event management tools is a huge plus. This person needs to be very comfortable with emails and doing synchronous and asynchronous work.
