Reading Together program fosters the joy of reading and boosts reading skills through mentorship and creative play.
As a Reading Mentor you will be paired with a 1st-5th grade student that are reading slightly below reading level to practice reading, share encouragement and build their confidence with reading. Pairs are based on the location you select and time you are available each week for 45 minute sessions to work on grade-level reading skills which may include, reading, drawing, literacy activities and games. You will be trained on how to be a great mentor by fostering a growth mindset. Staff will be on site to provide support and guidance.
Mentors will be asked to commit to volunteering from October through May (no programming in December 25- a January 15th). Because this is a mentoring role, your commitment for the school is very important to developing a relationship with your student.
