A committed coaching team is needed to support Purple Reign (girls ages 12 to 21) - SoulPhamm's cheer/stomp & shake team. Tryouts for this team will begin in September and then their season will run from September 2024 to June 2025.

Given that the stomp & shake genre is fairly new in the northeast, we have the autonomy to influence the style, adding Jersey and NYC flavor to our routines. Coaches with experience in HBCU style stomp & shake, or in traditional cheer with the ability to study and teach the HBCU style would be tremendously helpful. Candidates will work alongside two seasoned cheerleading coaches. Ability in hip-hop dance would be a tremendous plus!

Practices would be on Saturdays between the hours of 1pm and 4pm (and coaches can self-select a shift within this frame or elect to be present for the entire practice. Virtual sessions are also encouraged, but not required. Our current gym location is currently based Newark, New Jersey.

Girls on the team generally have little to no formal cheer training - so we want the coaching team to set a culture of fitness and training early on. Each team is expected to include only ten to fifteen young ladies (there are currently five on the team). The team is fairly busy, often being invited to perform in high visibility events such as NBA games and parades.

Significant experience in cheerleading or stomp & shake is required. Coaching experience is not. We will support you as you grow. There are also opportunities for referral to paid opportunities after six months of service. Interested candidates are asked to send a note to info@soulphamm.org outlining their experience.

About SoulPhamm Inc

Location:

613 Washington Boulevard, Suite 1129, Jersey City, NJ 07310, US

Mission Statement

Our mission is to make a positive difference in the lives of young people by providing unique artistic and athletic experiences and performances, and to assist them in achieving the highest standards of professionalism through the development of discipline, skill, confidence, cooperation, leadership, responsibility and character.

Description

Our vision is to promote virtue, equity, unity, justice, faith, charity and a sense of common purpose and brotherhood among all people with an emphasis on the development and advancement of young people through education, athletics, service and the arts.

SoulPhamm was incorporated as a nonprofit organization in the state of New Jersey on June 25, 2021 and is the "birth-child" of Coach Luis ("Lou") and Dr. Leisa Herrera ("Mz. Doc"). The organization exists to provide training to young people in a variety of sports and performing arts and unique opportunities to display those talents through competition and performance. By integrating mentoring, life skills, opportunities for community service and academic enrichment to the athletic/artistic program, we help make our scholar-athletes as well-rounded as possible, capable of meeting and overcoming any challenges they are faced with. Although Coach Lou passed away suddenly in January 2021, the official launch of SoulPhamm was held on June 26, 2021, which coincided with his birthday weekend. SoulPhamm will recognize its own founding, as well as the achievements of our young people every year on the fourth Saturday of June, as a tribute to the life and legacy of Coach Lou.
