English Classes for Refugees

ORGANIZATION: PROJECT WORTHMORE

  • 9 people are interested

English language acquisition is crucial to building a new life in America! You can make a big difference by working with our refugee students as they study English. Each class, taught by teachers from the Emily Griffith School, is tailor made to meet students where they are and give them the skills they need to move forward in their language learning. Volunteers assist the classroom teacher by working one-on-one or leading small break out groups with students who need extra help mastering specific skills. We ask our volunteers to commit to one class per week for a minimum of 6 weeks. This class runs from 1:00 pm - 2:30 pm. on Mondays. We also have classes on other days. We require a background check for this volunteer position as well as encourage training.

Volunteers should attend a training class called Beyond Babble.

Learn more about the training at:

https://projectworthmore.org/volunteer/

We are following standard COVID protocols. All volunteers and teachers are required to wear masks during class time.

Please email marlene@projectworthmore.org to express your interest.
