Main Goals for Position:
As a uniformed volunteer roving the park trails, the volunteer aims to enhance visitor engagement by greeting and interacting with park visitors, providing informal interpretation about park resources. They are committed to promoting environmental stewardship by collecting and properly disposing of litter and small brush along the trails, helping to maintain a clean and inviting park environment. Regular assessments of trail conditions will be conducted, with any damage reported promptly to the volunteer supervisor to ensure safety and accessibility for all visitors. To improve the quality of information shared, the volunteer will expand their knowledge of the park’s natural and historical resources by attending training sessions or workshops throughout the season. Additionally, they seek to foster community interaction by building relationships with regular park visitors and fellow volunteers, creating a sense of community and encouraging repeat visits. Finally, the volunteer aims to promote trail use by distributing information about trail maps and upcoming events, helping to encourage exploration of the park’s trails. Volunteer will clean waysides and directional signage along trails and at trailheads.

Position Duties:
- Greet park visitors along the trails and provide informal interpretation about park resources.
- Collect and properly dispose of litter to maintain a clean and inviting environment.
- Conduct regular assessments of trail conditions and report any damage or safety concerns to the volunteer supervisor.
- Share knowledge about the park’s natural and historical resources with visitors.
- Distribute trail maps and information about upcoming events to encourage exploration.
- Foster community interaction by engaging with regular park visitors and fellow volunteers.
- Assist in educating visitors on responsible trail use and park stewardship.
- Clean wayside signs.
- Contribute to discussions about park initiatives and improvements.
- Other related duties as assigned.

- Rainfall: The region experiences moderate rainfall, particularly in spring and early summer, which may affect outdoor activities and planning.
- Weather Preparedness: Volunteers should be prepared for changing weather conditions, with appropriate gear for both hot and cold weather.
Physical Demands:
- Mobility: Volunteers may need to walk or hike along the trails, navigating uneven terrain, steep slopes, and stairs, to engage with visitors and assess park conditions.
- Manual Labor: The role may involve physical tasks such as collecting litter, setting up informational materials, or carrying equipment.
- Endurance: Working outdoors for extended periods may require stamina, especially during warmer months or while participating in community events.
- Adaptability: Volunteers must be flexible, able to adjust to both environmental changes and the dynamics of visitor interactions as they carry out their duties in the park.
- Wheelchair Accessible: This position can be easily adapted for wheelchair accessibility, performing above duties on park’s wheelchair accessible trail.
