Make a difference in someone's life by providing compassionate presence and companionship to Gentiva Hospice patients and their families in the Rankin County area.

Our Patient Care Hospice volunteers help to provide support and comfort to our hospice patients and families, by visiting them during a time of need.

Gentiva Hospice volunteers may serve in a multitude of ways, including:

  • Offering patient companionship at bedside
  • Reading a book to patients
  • Engaging in conversation with patients/family members
  • Playing cards or games
  • Singing or playing music
  • Caregiver/family respite
  • Light household work
  • Running an errand
  • Assisting with an arts/craft activity

Volunteers may also assist staff with special events such as memorial services and veteran pinning ceremonies for our hospice patients and families.

Description

Gentiva Hospice is a provider of end of life care, serving more people than any other Hospice provider in the country.

Volunteers are an essential part of our interdisciplinary team. They help provide support both administratively and in-home to patients and families. Gentiva offers extensive training on end of life care to our volunteers.

  • We will work with your schedule. We do request that you commit to at least 3 hours a month.
  • Qualified candidates for patient visits must be at least 18 years of age, pass a background check, fingerprinting, urine drug screening, and complete orientation training.
