Cancer Support Community Arizona (CSCAZ)'s mission is to ensure that all people impacted by cancer are empowered through knowledge, strengthened by action, and sustained by community. CSCAZ offers cost-free programming for any individual who's life has been impacted by cancer.
We are excited to share that CSCAZ is looking for a dedicated Digital Sherpa. In this role, you will work alongside our Operations team.
The digital sherpa(tm) Program aims to help cancer patients (mainly 65 and older) and their families become more tech-savvy. The program’s workshops educate patients and care partners in basic internet and social media skills to help them in their search for information about their illness and support for them and their families.
Cancer patients, known as "climbers" in the program, are paired with university students, known as "sherpas", who have been specially trained by the Patient Empowerment Network to offer skills such as:
- Internet use (such as opening an email account, navigating Google, and creating and remembering passwords)
- Social media skills (including Facebook, Twitter and Instagram)
- Creating virtual connections with other cancer patients via on-line patient support communities
- How to use apps such as Uber and other ride-share services to get to appointments
Physical Demands:
- This position is primarily seated
Special Considerations:
Please understand the population that Cancer Support Community serves. We are there to support any individual at any stage of their diagnosis, along with any loved one that may be affected by a person’s diagnosis. We may encounter individuals on their worst and best days of their life.
COVID-19 Policy
- COVID-19 vaccination (if using campus facilities)
- Masks to be worn around participants (if using campus facilities)
