Volunteer needed to help with outdoor grounds maintenance. Help maintain our surrounding gardens, flowerbeds, and parking area by weeding, planting, raking & using blower, trimming, mulching, sweeping, removing debris, and assisting with general outdoor clean up. Opportunities for volunteers to assist with odd jobs, handyman tasks.
Ideally this volunteer could come on a weekly or bi-weekly basis to help CALC looking its best and most welcoming. We will need to set a schedule in advance, so we can ensure the correct equipment is prepared and people on site. We will require social distancing and appropriate masking when indoors.

Description
Capital Area Literacy Coalition is a nonprofit organization in Lansing, Michigan. Also called The Reading People, the organization provides a variety of free services to empower people to achieve their personal goals through literacy. We believe that the ability to read is critical to personal freedom and the maintenance of a democratic society. We provide free one-to-one instruction in reading and writing for children struggling in school, at-risk teens, and adults. We also provide tutoring to migrant and refugee families, GED services, and English as a Second Language instruction. All our programs and services are free and powered by volunteers.
