Mission Statement

To improve the quality of life in the Capital Area and the state of Michigan by promoting and achieving literacy for children, teens, and adults.

Description

We are a private, non-profit volunteer literacy organization founded in 1986. CALC, or The Reading People, enables people to achieve personal goals through literacy, by offering a variety of year-round tutoring programs for adults and children, taught by community volunteers. We believe that the ability to read is critical to personal freedom and maintainance of a democratic society.
