ORGANIZATION: Access Youth Academy

Access Youth Academy is a nonprofit after-school program that supports underserved, low-income students from middle and high schools across San Diego County. Students enrolled in our program are trained in the sport of squash and are offered a variety of academic enrichment opportunities, including tutoring, academic intervention, reading intervention, college advising support and more. Our mission is to provide the necessary resources for students to apply and graduate from a 4-year college/university. We accomplish this by empowering youth to excel by combining academic support, community service, and fitness.

Access Youth Academy needs tutors in the following subjects: Math (Pre-Calc, Calc, Stats, Algebra etc), Science (Biology, Chemistry, Physics etc), English/Humanities, History and Spanish. We are asking for volunteers to commit to tutoring students in-person at least 3 weekdays (Mon-Fri) each month during program hours from 3:00-6:00 PM. Our program is conducted in-person so we are looking for tutors that are available to meet and tutor our students in-person at our new facility, located in Southeast San Diego.

As an organization that works to serve students across San Diego, we believe that our volunteer tutors enhance and are an extension of the work that we have already begun in helping students achieve academic success. Join us in impacting the lives of youth! Become a tutor for Access Youth Academy!
