Students enrolled in our program are trained in the sport of squash and are offered a variety of academic enrichment opportunities, including tutoring, academic check-ins, college advising support and more. Our mission is to provide the necessary resources for students to apply and graduate from a 4-year college/university. Access Youth Academy needs tutors from 4:00 - 6:00 PM Monday through Thursday, tutoring in the subject of Spanish. We are asking for volunteers to commit to tutoring students in-person at least 3 weekdays each month. Our program is conducted in-person so we are looking for tutors that are available to meet and tutor our students in-person at our new facility, located in Southeast San Diego. However, we will consider virtual options as well. Students in our program range from grades 5-12. Spanish courses also vary by grade level but typically start with beginners Spanish to advanced Spanish courses. As an organization that works to serve underserved and low-income students across San Diego, we believe that our volunteer tutors are an extension of the work that we have already begun - to provide academic support to youth in the greater San Diego community. Not to mention, it is also a great way to gain experience working with youth in an educational environment. To learn more about how to become a tutor for Access Youth Academy, please contact Siarah Reed, Program Director at siarah@accessyouthacademy.org.
