Our food distribution days are usually SATURDAYS but please check the Facebook page every week as that may change! facebook.com/FoodCommune

We need help all day on Saturdays, from 10:00-8:00. You can pick a shift, 10:00-1:00, 1:00-4:00, or 4:00-7:00. Or, just come at any time, and stay as long as you like!

If you want to take food home with you that day, please help yourself. Volunteers can take proportionate to their time worked: two items per hour. :)

Schedule:
10:00-1:00: set up, bring out food, sort/clean/organize food
1:00-5:30: food distribution time! Attendees come through and shop.
5:30-7:00: packing up, cleaning up

For your first time as a volunteer, it is best to come for the first shift so you can see how everything is set up, but if that doesn't work for you then any time is good :)

3 Shifts

  • 10:00 AM to 01:00 PM
    Shift 1 - set up from 10:00-1:00
  • 01:00 PM to 04:00 PM
    Shift 2 - help run distribution 1:00-4:00
  • 04:00 PM to 07:00 PM
    Shift 3: help run distribution 4:00-5:30, break down and clean up 5:30-7:00

FoodCommune is an Atlanta-based freegan co-op that rescues food and helps feed our community.

Description

FoodCommune rescues good food from grocery stores, food pantries, farmer's markets, restaurants, bakeries, events, etc. that otherwise would end up in a landfill. Through the help of volunteers, we distribute this food every Saturday to families in Atlanta.
