Volunteer / Intern Position
WHO WE ARE
A Family For Every Child is a non-profit organization that seeks to find permanent, loving homes for children currently in foster care awaiting adoption. We have many different programs serving foster and at-risk youth and families in Oregon and foster youth nationwide.
JOB SUMMARY
We are looking for an individual with creative problem solving skills to work as an assistant to our Technology Director. This position will incorporate many miscellaneous beginner to intermediate level technology tasks. This position will include training on these technology tasks.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Under the supervision of the Technology Director, the volunteer/intern will:
- Install operating systems
- Install hardware and modify computers (Ram, Hard Drives, etc)
- Install & set up software
- Set up desktop stations (Monitors, mouses, keyboards, etc)
- Run cables
- Edit & update web pages
- Perform research and present research to the Technology Director
- Misc IT, Sysadmin, and Webdev Tasks
SKILLS / QUALIFICATIONS
- Basic computer proficiency & an interest in technology
- Creative problem solving skills
- Ability to research solutions on your own
- Ability to interact, communicate, and present ideas effectively.
- Ability to meet deadlines.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
SCHEDULE
- 3 month minimum commitment
- 6 Hours weekly minimum

Description
A Family For Every Child, a nonprofit organization, was started by Christy Obie-Barrett and dozens of dedicated and passionate volunteers. In 2006, AFFEC was formed and developed into an organization focused on finding permanent and loving adoptive homes for Oregon's waiting children. We started with our first project called The Heart Gallery in November, 2006, and now we have blossomed into ten incredibly successful programs. None of this could have occurred without the wonderful support from thousands of volunteers, sponsors, in-kind donors, photographers, and many more!
