URGENT: Support Uganda's Mityana Community - Stricken by Heavy Hailstorm

Heavy rains mixed with very strong winds struck Mityana District in Central Uganda mid May 2022, leaving families homeless, gardens of food crops, schools and hospitals in the district heavily affected
This was a deadliest heavy hailstorm that hit Mityana Community in barely less than 3 months after a similar one hit the same community in March 2022, devastating communities that are a just coming out from one of the worlds’ longest country wide lockdown due Covid 19.
Within the larger greater Maanyi community alone over 50 homesteads were left with blown off roofs, over 450 acres of food crops destroyed, a schools roof brown off and now students are attending class in tree shades, Mpongo health center solar panels destroyed and an Out Patient Department (OPD) section destroyed by the storm.
A donation to Volunteers Need Africa (VONA) will be used to provide critical relief services such as iron sheets to households whose roof tops were totally brown off, food, replacing of Solar panels and restoration OPD section at Mpongo Health Center and purchase of a Youth friendly treatment tent.
Critically needed
- Buying of 600 pieces of Iron sheets (to 20 most vulnerable persons from within the many affected people whose roof tops were brown off!!) US$ 5,200
- Purchase of Solar Panels at Mpongo Health center III US$ 3,500
- Construction of one (1) Youth friendly treatment corner US$ 1,250
- Buying 20,000 banana combits to support restoration of 70 acres of bananas gardens; each combit costs US$ 0.45

The needy communities are those that lack access to water, have poor sanitation, poor road network, food scarcity, un favorable health conditions, limited education opportunities etc,
