Love Horses? GREAT!! So do we!! Come volunteer with the Furvivors! Donate your time to help care for the horses and farm animals in rehab at the Wonderland. If only a few hours weekly, or monthly, it will make a world of difference to the abused, neglected and abandoned souls we are rehabilitating towards their best life.

There are many things volunteers can do for the animals. We find that a lot of our residents have been shorted the necessary human contact, love and affection they so deserve. This is where our volunteers are so needed.

We are currently in need of specific boots-on-the-ground positions at the farm. We know it's difficult to commit to regular shifts and while we are a very flexible team, we would love to eventually work out a regular shift.

The Furvivors are in great need of:
Grooms - no experience, no problem. We can train like-minded individuals to groom our babies.

Riders - Evaluators - Horse Experience preferred. Help us evaluate new residents, once they are ready to understand their riding capabilities. And, offer them refresher courses and light work as needed, working closely with the on board Trainer. (this position could be fulfilled by the trainer/exerciser as one role)

Trainers - Exercisers - Horse Experience preferred for the obvious reasons. Once we evaluate our residents, we would like to work on very light training and exercise. This will be part of the rehabilitation program.

Only a desire to help nurture the resident 'Furvivors' to the next chapter of their best life is needed.
Be here for them!

Our farm volunteers are hands-on. We ask that you be responsible, reliable, committed and 18 years old. Minors under 18 must be accompanied by a guardian. (trainers, riders must be 18)

Send us an email with your interest to: rescue@furvivors.org or reply to this post. You can also read more about us at www.furvivors.org

Mission Statement

WE BELIEVE IN SECOND CHANCES We rescue horses in unsafe, neglect, abandoned and at-risk situations. It is our wish that they never get on "that truck". Whether it’s rehab, training, medication or even humane euthanization, we are accepting the challenge. Our mission is to aid these FURvivors so they can have a second chance at a better life, or a first chance at the life they never had in the first place.

Description

Furvivors opens the barnyard to all animals in need, in turn educating humans through their stories. Animals offer a compassionate approach to healing that no other treatment can offer. We offer services to area veterans, troops, organizations, students and families in need of therapeutic recreation services with horses and farm animals.

Rescuing them to rescue us. Rescue does not stop.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Driver's License Needed
  • Must be at least 18
  • Ideally the horses would need a regular schedule for training, 2-3 days a week. Grooms would ideally be preferred daily or split among several volunteers throughout the week. The idea is to provide human socialization to the horses.
  • Schedule to be discussed w/ potential handler, groom and trainer. We are open and flexible but would prefer to get a concrete schedule in place.
