Volunteers Need Africa ( VONA) in collaboration with Bulera sub county leadership under the Chairman of the area , local leaders of Nalyankanja Parish and the Community of Bukooka Village and nearby villages are desirous of creating a new road measuring 700m across Zigoto swamp.

For a very long time residents of this village have asked their local government to help and create for them a road accross the swamp in vain! As a way of responding the community outcry and need for for the road, I my self with the local leaders in the area mobilized community volunteers and started on slashing / cutting of papyrus and grown grass through the swamp. am amazed by the way members of throw themselves into the waters of swamp and physically cut out the long grown papyrus/ According to the residents, no road has ever existed since time in memorial, it was only the brave individuals who risk to cross the swamp using a foot path in the swamp. the children and women could not dare!

Once this stretch of 700m is worked on;
- it will connect communities and families that have for long been disconnected,
- business activities will highly improve
-Theft of peoples food, animals and property will go down
- children will access school
- men who have been raping women and children will because they have escaping into this thick swamp
- the community will feed well on the nutritious Eels ( locally known as ensonzi) which shrive well in this swamp
- and many more benefits associated with road connectivity
- the community will get access to water

Bulera Sub county and Mityana local authorities have promised to give me the wheel loader, 2 dumper trucks and a grader; the actual machines that are needed to work on the road

the community members have given in the soil and murrum to fill the swamp and create the 700m of the road.

I request a compassionate and generous individual (s) to help us raise money for this project

The project will cost US$ 115,000
