Corporate & Community Group Opportunity: Spring Events

Save to Favorites

ORGANIZATION: Eden Housing, Inc.

This volunteer opportunity is for groups only!

Corporate or Community Groups can sign up for this opportunity to host an event at one of our affordable housing sites located all throughout California. Build community and brighten the holidays by planning a party for our children and their families: decorating, hosting holiday-themed games and crafts, and serving food. These events are generally hosted during regular business hours, and we cannot host groups over the weekend. We also ask that the groups plan the event (with staff support and input) and bring any needed supplies (although we generally have some supplies onsite). For holiday parties in the past, we have hosted groups who've led parties with treats, games, and holiday or winter-themed arts and crafts projects. Some groups have also sponsored the seniors living onsite and purchased gifts for them. We will work with you to design and plan a fun and interactive event!

The volunteer group will plan and host an event geared toward seniors living onsite. Purchase any decorations or supplies needed for activities, raffles, etc. Set the tables and serve food. Build community-sit and talk with the residents and engage with them. Clean and clear community space on site, pack up all items brought.

Skills needed:

Must have excellent interpersonal skills, organizational skills, and a positive personality and demeanor. Able to approach and welcome all types of people.

Volunteer groups will have the opportunity to work closely together to problem solve, be creative and execute a fun event, spend time with new people, and help provide a fun experience to low-income seniors or families.

About Eden Housing, Inc.

22645 Grand Street, Hayward, CA 94541, US

Mission Statement

Eden Housing creates and sustains high-quality affordable housing communities that advance equity and opportunity for all.

Eden Housing, Inc. is a California non-profit corporation founded in 1968 by six community activists who were concerned about the lack of non-discriminatory, affordable housing in Northern California. These volunteers began by rehabilitating older homes in Hayward for first time homebuyer families. In the mid-1980s, Eden Housing incorporated an affiliated property management company, Eden Housing Management, Inc. (EHMI), which currently provides quality onsite management and maintenance for more than 9,000 affordable homes throughout California. In the mid-1990's, Eden Housing expanded its scope to include the provision of free onsite support services and programs for its residents. Our services include technology programming; "green" resident education; youth academic, enrichment and recreation programs; programs for seniors and persons with disabilities; financial literacy; job/career preparation; and health and wellness programs for all ages.

Today, Eden has a portfolio of 9,000 units at 145 properties across 15 counties in California. Eden develops new construction and acquires and rehabilitates existing properties to preserve them. During the past 53 years, over 65,000 people have come home to an Eden Housing community. At Eden Housing, we have more than 20,000 households on our waiting list and a portfolio-wide vacancy rate of 1%, demonstrating a huge demand for our work.
