Here at Cathedral Kitchen located in Camden, NJ, we offer a dining service to those who are facing food insecurity in the area. We serve dinner to our guests Monday-Friday from 3:15-5PM. Cathedral Kitchen is a place where people who may not have another source of food, or just need a little help throughout the week come in and are served hot meals. We have had music guests and groups perform for our guests in the past and they have loved it.

We are looking for volunteers to perform for our guests during our meal service; 3:15-5PM. This opportunity is open for individuals or groups. The type of performance can range from singing to playing instruments, or a mix of both.

This is a great opportunity because our guests will appreciate any kind of performance, and love the live music aspect of the service.

Description

Cathedral Kitchen has a vision of success, hope, and abundance for people in need in Camden. This vision drives all of our programming and calls us to do more during this unprecedented time. In pursuit of that vision, we are supporting the immediate needs of vulnerable residents in the short-term, while breaking down barriers to supports and opportunities that will lead them to long-term stability and self-sufficiency. Annually, our Meal Program feeds 3,000 Camden residents who are living in scarcity - many are unemployed or underemployed, homeless or tenuously housed, and lack access to basic needs and stabilizing supports. While addressing their food insecurity, our Support Services provide personal care items as well as access to social services, benefits, and housing through service partners. Connecting guests to these services helps them reach a more stabilized status from which they can achieve higher-level goals, like education and employment. Our Culinary and Baking Arts Training program further supports our mission by readying economically marginalized individuals for sustained employment.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be at least 15
  • The meal service runs Monday-Friday from 3:15-5PM. We would ask that the performer arrives 15-30 minutes early to set up, and stays until our last guest leaves, which is usually around 5:15.
  • We ask that you wear a mask during our meal service.
