We use food to nourish, train and employ individuals and families in Camden and the surrounding communities who are struggling to make ends meet. We operate a meal program that serves hot and nutritious meals in our dining room six days a week to approximately 300 individuals and families. We provide meals and food to seniors, children and people experiencing homelessness out in the community. We operate a culinary/baking arts training program that has graduated approximately 370 adults and has an 85% job placement rate. We operate a dental clinic, Project Smile, that offers free and low-cost dental care to low-income individuals without insurance. We operate several social enterprises including a catering company and café.

I volunteered and attended training to learn how to conduct interviews for this organizations clients. I was scheduled for two event. I showed up dressed to work in an office but learned they over scheduled and I was needed to escort clients selected for interviews. I mentioned I'd prefer to stay with the interviews & received a semi-scowl by the young woman in charge. Wanting to be a team player I ended up standing (in heels and dress clothes) for 2 hours escorting those chosen for interviews back & forth. Standing next to the center mgr (picking clients for the survey's) I mentioned I was terribly unprepared for this job, and she told me to just wear sneakers and old clothes in the future. Unfortunately, I don't own sneakers and like to wear nice clothes so this definitely isn't the right "gig" for me again. I was disappointed though that they didn't realize that volunteers should be used for the positions that fit their skills & preferences and not just to fill in any position
