First Presbyterian Church of Hayward Homeless Shelter provides meals to guests every day of the week. Volunteers are needed daily from 6:00 to 8:30 PM.

Upon arrival, check in with the shelter attendant for instructions. Volunteers are required to wear masks and gloves, remain socially distant and follow safety and hygiene protocols.

Standard duties include:

Food preparation: Heating and preparing simple meals, such as salad or sandwiches.

Service: Serve food to guests in a courteous and attentive manner.

Clean-up: Washing dishes, kitchen and appliances, sanitizing surfaces, etc.

REQUIRED: Closed toed shoes that also completely contain the heels of the feet. (No Crocs or slip-ons allowed.) Print, sign and bring the attached waiver with you to volunteer.

OPTIONAL: Work gloves, and personal refillable water bottle.
