Special Ops volunteers are one-part ceremony leaders and one-part crowd control -- and they get the best seat in the house. Our torch processions vary in size from 16 torches to a couple hundred, and they are always different. Some celebrate Chinese culture, some honor veterans or cancer survivors, and some remember local history. Being a Special Ops volunteer helps us ensure these processions go off without a hitch...

WaterFire Volunteer Attire:

  • All black head to toe, no open toed shoes
  • Mask optional

Suggestion: No large personal items and weather appropriate clothing

New! WaterFire ditches the plastic water bottle this season! Last season we eliminated the plastic from constructing the braziers and this season we want to reduce our carbon footprint by eliminating the need for single-use plastic bottles. We ask that you please bring a reusable water bottle to your shift and you will be able to refill on site.

About WaterFire Providence

Location:

475 Valley St, Providence, RI 02908, US

Mission Statement

WaterFire Providence's mission is to inspire Providence and its visitors by revitalizing the urban experience, fostering community engagement, and creatively transforming the city by presenting WaterFire for all to enjoy.

Description

WaterFire Providence Brings Art to the Community, by the Community

WaterFire Providence is known for the lightings that take place downtown with local artists and food vendors. We hope to get back to lightings downtown later this year but for now our main focus is the WaterFire Arts Center (WFAC)! Since the pandemic WaterFire continued to create art for the community, by the community at the WFAC.

WaterFire Providence Volunteers are an integral part of every event we host. They assist in all aspects of event production, special projects, and anything else we dream up.

Volunteers build, perform, inspire, engage, and enjoy! WaterFire volunteers come from all walks of life, and we appreciate the diversity and talents that are among them. Over the years, a network of volunteers has been established, and we are delighted at the community that they have become.

Begin your volunteer experience with WaterFire Providence by signing up now on our Volunteer HQ.
