ORGANIZATION: SW FLORIDA NEWCOMER IMMIGRANT EDUCATIONAL CENTER INC

This is a great opportunity for someone who has experience teaching English to language learners, refugees, immigrants , or students in TESOL programs who want to practice teaching English language learners.
This is a rewarding and fulfilling experience to change the life of a new immigrant or a refugee and help them adjust to their new life here.
We offer online English groups and individual tutoring for beginners, low intermediate and advanced learners of English. You have to commit to 3hours teaching a week in the evening, 7-8:30 pm and provide at least 50 hours of tutoring in total.
We use an online program that allows students to work at home after the lessons. No need to prepare lessons in advance, but you can add your own activities.

Mission Statement

Our Mission NICERFL is committed to empowering newly arrived youth and adult immigrants, one at a time, to be self-sufficient and successfully integrate in the economic, cultural and social fabric of SW Florida!

Description

NicerFL is a welcoming and supportive educational center for new immigrants who are looking to adjust and be successful in a new social, educational and work environment in Pinellas and Manatee counties, Florida!

NicerFL students are youth and adult newcomer immigrants who live in Pinellas and Manatee counties. We provide personalized educational services to empower them to reach their personal and professional goals!

Individualized Approach. The diversity of our learners guides our individualized approach to teaching and program design. Our volunteer tutors and mentors receive training and support in using differentiated instructional methods and English Learner teaching strategies tailored to the individual needs of each new immigrant student.

NicerFL is the only organization in Manatee and Pinellas counties that provides free one-to-one educational services and mentoring to newcomer students and their families. For many adults who want to learn English and struggle to learn in large, classroom-based settings, we are their only option. Our guiding belief is that Education Open Doors!

NicerFL volunteer tutors, mentors, youth community leaders/peer tutors, community navigators and staff work hard to make sure that every new neighbor is welcomed and connected to the larger Florida community where they live. We also help newcomers transition to a new life in Florida.
