Meal Packing Volunteer - Kids' Food Basket (Grand Rapids)

  • A group opportunity. Invite your friends.

For thousands of West Michigan children, a Sack Supper means that school lunch doesn’t have to be the last meal of the day. With the help of our volunteers, we provide the security and consistency of guaranteeing that meal each and every weekday.

By signing up to be a meal packing volunteer, you'll be helping to pack Sack Suppers in their final stage before delivery! This involves working on a small assembly line to get all of our healthy and nourishing menu items into each brown paper bag. Please be ready to have a good time while ensuring kids in our community get the nutrition they need to thrive!

About Kids' Food Basket

Location:

1300 Plymouth Ave NE, Grand Rapids, MI 49505, US

Mission Statement

Kids' Food Basket exists to increase access to healthy food for children and families. Our core belief is that food is a right, not a privilege. Because that is not yet a reality, we mobilize human and financial resources to break down barriers that cause food insecurity. Our services include our flagship Sack Supper program, community-driven farming, family food provision and educational programming. Collectively, we are working toward realizing a hunger-free West Michigan for all.

Description

Who We Are

Kids’ Food Basket is a grassroots, community solution to childhood hunger. We engage all who care about children reaching their full potential - in school and in life. We began 20 years ago by serving 125 kids through our Sack Supper program and now serve approximately 9,300 kids each weekday in West Michigan.
