Each October, the Santa Fe International Film Festival relies on the support of volunteers like you! Just as important as the films and filmmakers, SFiFF would not be a success without the hard-working team of volunteers that join us each year. If you are dependable, personable, and enthusiastic, please consider volunteering with SFiFF.

Volunteers who sign up for a total of 12 hours (approx. 3 shifts) are rewarded with free-access to any film screenings that are not previously sold out to festival patrons.


A variety of volunteer roles are available, which you can select based on your skills and interests during the 5-day festival -

  • Lead Usher: Oversee the Festival operations of the venue in which you are hosting by checking in volunteer ushers, accounting for all passholders and ticket-holders, managing the sold-out waitlist, prepping theaters for screenings, and filling all available seats.
  • Usher: Assist the Lead Usher by scanning passes and tickets, keeping patrons organized and informed of changes, monitoring theater before/during/after screening, and fulfilling any spontaneous duties that may arise.
  • Box Office: Act as the point of contact and information for Festival patrons by providing excellent customer service, answering any questions, answering the box office phone, selling Festival merchandise, and distributing Festival "swag bags."
  • Party Host: Festival parties, check passes, tickets, and monitor the door, provide wristbands and/or drink tickets to ensure only authorized guests are allowed inside, check IDs (21+ events), and assist venue staff.
  • Driver: Transport Festival guests from airport to Festival, as well as around Santa Fe, as needed during the Festival. (Valid drivers license and reliable vehicle are required.)
  • Production Assistant: Assist with any Festival tasks, as needed and requested, including - running errands, delivering supplies to various venues, moving equipment, etc. (Valid drivers license and reliable vehicle are required.)
  • Banner Set-up and Take-down: This volunteer (team) will set-up and remove banners daily. (Valid drivers license and reliable vehicle are required.)

Santa Fe Film Institute is committed to the advancement of independent film, filmmaking, support of the local community, and underserved youth. The main project of the Santa Fe Film Institute(SFFI), the Santa Fe International Film Festival(SFiFF), is the premiere forum for international and independent cinema in the area. Focusing on artistic excellence, SFiFF serves as a creative center for film year-round, and as a presentation of the year's top films each October. SFiFF provides professional opportunities for artists, and unmatched audience participation in the world’s greatest little film city.

Description

Santa Fe Film Institute benefits its community by presenting the largest and most dynamic film festival in New Mexico, the Santa Fe International Film Festival (SFiFF). SFiFF screens over 100 films each October and supports local youth, artists, filmmakers, and those seldom served by the arts. SFiFF provides educational and professional development in film, including SFiFF Student Day, and by hosting interactive workshops, industry networking events, discussion panels, and filmmaker Q&As, as well as free public programming.

  • Must be at least 16
  • Volunteers are asked to commit to at least 3 shifts in order to receive volunteer credentials. (Volunteer credentials include free-access to any film screenings that are not previously sold out to festival patrons.)
  • Volunteers under Age 18 will need parental/guardian approval for volunteering.
